Chinese Traditional Culture Classes – Invitation to Participate

Sponsored by Culture & Education Division, Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province

Our Association has been invited to nominate candidates wishing to attend a sponsored event studying traditional Chinese culture.

This will include Chinese Ancient Civilisation, Tai Qi and Chan Wu Training, Chinese Tea Ceremony, Chinese Painting, Meditation, Medicine Treatment, Tai Qi Quan, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Traditional Music – ‘Gu Qin’. Included are tours of attractions to observe and learn Cantonese culture and the achievements of social development in Guangdong.

Their objective is to support and help young overseas Chinese learn Chinese culture and heritage. They wish to provide enthusiasts from other parts of the world with a learning opportunity and training in Chinese martial arts, tai chi and Chinese culture. The courses will be held between July and December of 2016.

Learning Location: Guangdong Chan Wu Cultural Centre
481 Longdong Lung Ying Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province

Application deadline: July 24, 2016.

The organisers offer selected attendants food, lodging, transportation and most other expenses whilst in China. Attendants are responsible for round-trip international travel. Attendants also need to fill in ‘2016 Chinese Traditional Culture Class – Trainee Entry Form’ and ‘Trainee Medical History Form’. Attendants must write down clearly the class to be attended. The AZSCA can recommend two attendants to each class.

Places are limited, first served basis and subject to AZSCA Committee selection.

The schedule for four terms – as follows:

First Term of Chinese Traditional Culture – Chanwu Training

  1. Learning Time: July 26 – August 24 2016
    (30 days, July 26 day report, August 24 day return)
  2. Application requirements: Invite 30 overseas Chinese, with more than 3 years of martial arts experience or engaged in teaching martial arts, between the ages of 16-35 years old, healthy, no bad habits, love of Chinese traditional martial arts to participate.

Second Term of Chinese Traditional Culture – Tai Chi Class

  1. Learning Time: August 29 – October 12 2016
    (15 days, August 29 – day report, September 12 – day return)
  2. Application requirements: Invite 30 overseas Chinese, between the ages of 30-55 years old, healthy, no bad habits, love of Chinese traditional culture, Tai Chi to participate. The leaders from Overseas Chinese associations and cultural institutions are given priority.

Third Term of Chinese Traditional Culture – Chinese Ancient Civilization Class

  1. Learning Time: November 7 – November 16 2016
    (10 days, November 7 – day report, November 16 – day return)
  2. Application requirements: Invite 40 overseas Chinese, between the ages of 30-55 years old, healthy, no bad habits, love of traditional Chinese culture to participate. The leaders from Overseas Chinese associations and cultural institutions are given priority.

Fourth Term of Chinese Traditional Culture – Chanwu Training

  1. Learning Time: November 23 – December 13 2016 (21 days, Nov 23 – day report, December 13 – day return)
  2. Application requirements: Invite 30 overseas Chinese, with more than 3 years of martial arts experience or engaged in teaching martial arts, between the ages of 16-35 years old, healthy, no bad habits, love of Chinese traditional martial arts to participate.
